Pantone Reveals Color of the Year for 2012:
PANTONE 17-1463 Tangerine Tango

Dance into the New Year with this vivacious and appealing reddish orange

Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color InstituteŽ. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

Has pantone created their own cross pollinated fruit??

Not dramatically different from last year’s Honeysuckle, this year’s color also draws inspiration from the tropics.

In its many iterations, tangerine mango ranges from a warm reddish orange to a full on saturated persimmon color.  Already showing up on the runway for cruise, and spring, I personally think this color will be stronger in fashion than in home fashion.

pantone 2012 fashion color report

I am seeing much more yellow, blue and green in home furnishings for spring and summer than this color.

Below are some examples of current Grand Image artwork showcasing our version of Tangerine Mango.

I absolutely love this color! It's sophisticated, organic and happy. I like the idea of a pure white setting with a WOW piece of art in Tangerine Tango. I see a modern white lounge chair resting on a neutral flokati rug and the large Amanda Coleman on the wall. And this color pairs nicely with a pale blue for a modern tropical look. Ok, designers, let's bring it!
